Me, Reflecting on America

I've always thought of myself as your average American woman, but lately I find I no longer think like the average woman, or the average American for that matter. I consider most things from a broader perspective, evaluating all of life with a curious mind and the ever exasperating 'WHY?'

For years I have held a professional distance to all things political because of the havoc it could wreak on my small business, but no longer can I remain silent. Friends and colleagues with whom I once enjoyed candid and curious conversation will no longer consider discussion of differing perspectives. If I disagree with them, then I must be wrong in my thinking. It is no longer acceptable to have a contrasting or distinct point of view. And when I offer some context to a daily headline, I’m at best a contrarian, at worst a Trump Supporter or a leftist. I do find it quite amusing that I can be classified as both from day to day! The truth is I'm a life-long Independent voter who thinks for herself and refuses to swallow the red and blue pills handed out by politicians and the media, who more than not seem to care about only themselves.

Someone's got to speak up. I hope you will read my blog posts with an open mind, and comment so that we can have open, civil discourse with the aim of finding common ground.
